   I may be showing my age here, but I think it is of value to keep it in. 
Personally,
I only have two machines left running 2.2 (and one 2.0.36), but a lot of 
ppl are
not even that "quick", esp. in a production environment. Heck, I have two 
clients
still running DGUX 4, one is still happy with AIX R3, a bunch run HPUX 9...
The systems work. They patch them (carefully), but that's it.
   Now, I don't know if it requires extra work, but if at all doable, I 
would vote for
keeping 2.2 support for a while yet.
